October is 'Teen Driver Safety Week'
Although the overall number of auto accident fatalities has been on the decline, there are still far too many young adults dying this way. I

Because only so much can be taught about driving in a limited amount of time, 16-17 year olds just receiving their licenses are most inexperienced, have less foresight, and are at highest risk. Compared with adults’ fatal crashes, teen accidents involve more driver error. To make the situation even more dangerous, teens are far less likely to wear a seatbelt than any other age group. Teen drivers are naturally distracted by technology devices and their surroundings in general. Adding more passengers in the vehicle creates even larger distractions. Lack of experience makes them unable to recognize or underestimate dangerous situations such as driving too close to other vehicles, speeding, and /or mixing driving with alcohol and drugs.
