Why did we perform a parking study?

Wauwatosa East High School provides off-street parking for faculty, staff, and a limited number of students in need of accessible parking. Therefore, most of the students who drive to school park their vehicles on the street in close proximity to the high school where the on-street parking regulations are mostly 3-hour time limit, along with a limited amount of unrestricted on-street parking areas. Students are leaving school to move their vehicles multiple times throughout the day due to the 3-hour parking time restrictions. This parking study assessed the use and management of the City’s parking around the high school, focusing on student safety and identifying neighborhood parking concerns.

Some of the parking study recommendations included a 90-day community parking zone with unrestricted day time parking to measure occupancy, an educational guidebook for students and parents related to parking in the area, or permitting one-side parking on the west side of 74th St near the high school.
