RED HOT MAMA! A Tribute to Sophie Tucker (featuring Becky Spice)

Multi-talented Becky Spice and Jack Forbes Wilson present an evening of naughty stories and great songs in celebration of a moxie dame.

Wauwatosa resident BECKY SPICE opens the seventh season of Sunset Playhouse’s popular SideNotes Cabaret Series in a show titled RED HOT MAMA! A TRIBUTE TO SOPHIE TUCKER. Multi-talented JACK FORBES WILSON will join Becky as they present an evening of naughty stories and great songs in celebration of a moxie dame known as “The First Lady of Show Business.” Performances will be presented October 9-11, 2014 in Elm Grove’s Sunset Playhouse Studio Theatre, 800 North Elm Grove Road.

Sophie Tucker was a groundbreaking singer, actress, comedienne, and radio personality with a career spanning six decades. Her rollicking and risqué routines paved the way for future performers such as Mae West, Joan Rivers, and Bette Midler. One of the most popular entertainers of the early 20th century, Tucker was loud, sassy, and famous for her voluptuous curves and bawdy persona.

BECKY SPICE is an experienced vocalist with a well-established reputation in the Milwaukee theatre and music scenes. She has been a professional singer/actress for over 25 years and her one-woman cabaret shows have been performed across the country. JACK FORBES WILSON is active as a music director, actor, singer, pianist, church musician, and teacher. Becky and Jack have performed for audiences large and small, at private, public, and corporate events, and at venues including the Milwaukee Rep, Skylight Music Theatre, First Stage, and Madison Rep.
