Salvation Army Needs to Hire 50 More Bell Ringers in Milwaukee Area

Applicants need to be able to stand for 8-hour shift, looking for full- and part-time workers.

WAUWATOSA, WI — The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County is still hiring bell ringers for the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign season. The need is particularly great for kettles assigned to the Milwaukee West Worship and Community Center at 1645 N. 25th Street.

"This year we're very short of bell ringers. We have tried many ways to hire as many individuals as we can. Some people came and applied for the job, but then never showed up for the orientation," said Salvation Army Captain Sanhty Thammavongsa," said in a press release.

Bell ringers start at just over minimum wage at $7.50 an hour, Krachel Greenwood, Media Relations Director, told Patch. She is looking for workers who are available 10 a.m.-6 p.m. five days a week, but would also consider those who are only able to work two or three days a week.

Capt. Thammavongsa is looking to hire 50 bell ringers between now and Christmas Eve. Interested applicants must be able to stay on their feet in cold weather for eight hours at a time. Those who are interested can apply in person at the Milwaukee West Center between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. A photo identification and social security card will be required when applying for employment.

Money raised from the Red Kettle Campaign is used to support 80 programs and services throughout the coming year.
