See U.S. Amateur for Free at Blue Mound Country Club

Wauwatosa course hosts first two days of stroke play; later rounds are at Erin Hills.

is one of the host courses for the first two days of the 2011 U.S. Amateur Golf Championships later this month, and spectator admission is free both days.

This is the first time the U.S. Amateur — past champions include Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Arnold Palmer and Bobby Jones — has been played in Wisconsin. The first two days, Aug. 22-23, are stroke play events at Blue Mound and at Erin Hills in the Town of Erin.

After those rounds the field is trimmed to 64 players and match play continues at Erin Hills.

Free admission is courtesy of a group called "Friends of Erin Hills," according to a press release. That includes a small group of companies who have underwritten ticket costs.

Exact times and player pairings will be announced.
