On Wednesday, August 15, 2014, Milwaukee Montessori School (MMS) thanked Kathy Maki for 25 years of dedicated service. Maki has touched the lives of countless students while providing them with the caring and exemplary education for which Milwaukee Montessori School is known.
Maki has taught as a Toddler Teacher for her entire career at MMS. Maki is especially well-known for her patience and boundless energy. Each day, she enjoys working with the two-and three-year old children to aid in their development of speech and language, gross and fine motor skills, cognitive abilities (learn and problem solve) as well as teaching them how to interact both socially and emotionally.
Developing a close connection with her students enables Maki to successfully potty train the children in her care. Her commitment to the progress of the children continues throughout their years at Milwaukee Montessori School. Each year, she proudly attends 8th grade graduation cheering on each student.
“Ms. Maki was always nice, sweet, and caring,” said Jenna G. When asked, many fond memories were shared by some current 8th graders who were former students in Ms. Maki’s Stepping Stones classroom. “Ms. Maki genuinely cares about what each child thinks and about what each kid cares about,” says Meghan O.
In her years at MMS, Maki has witnessed many changes including the steady growth of both the Toddler and Academic Programs which required facility expansions and the eventual relocation of the school to its current location in 1998.
Milwaukee Montessori School is fortunate to have such a dedicated educator on staff and is honored that she has shared her talents with our students over the last 25 years. www.milwaukee-montessori.org
