Teenager Drowns in Milwaukee's Washington Park Pool After Hours

Milwaukee Police Officer arrived on the scene and without hesitation, jumped into the pool to retrieve the victim from the deep end.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Police responded to a person in the water at the Washington Park swimming pool in the 1800 block of N. 40th Street around 10:40 p.m. late Wednesday night.

A 19-year-old man and several friends climbed over the locked fence to gain access to the closed swimming pool. The subject jumped into the pool, began having trouble, and sank to the bottom of the pool.

Milwaukee Police say a Milwaukee Police Officer arrived on the scene and without hesitation, jumped into the pool to retrieve the victim from the deep end. Once out of the water, the same officer, who was now joined by additional officers began CPR.

Milwaukee Fire Department arrived on the scene and continued to perform CPR.

Despite a significant effort to revive the victim, the victim died at the scene. The Milwaukee police investigation is ongoing.
