TRAFFIC ALERT: I-41 South to I-94 East Ramp to Close Oct. 1

WAUWATOSA -- A freeway ramp closure is going to affect school traffic in the morning hours starting Oct. 1, and Wauwatosa School District officials want you to be aware of the changes that will take place.

According to the district, if you live in Wauwatosa or travel through, you'll want to make note of the following information:

The ramp from I-41 (45) S to I-94 East will close beginning Oct. 1 The closure will be in place until late spring 2017.

As it relates to Wauwatosa schools, Wilson Elementary & WSTEM will see an increased amount of traffic mostly in the morning hours, according to WisDOT. The district has worked with WisDOT related to this. Other schools are not expected to be impacted.

If you commute for work or any other activity, you will want to take note of the closure though.

Suggested alternate routes from WisDot include:
I-41 South to Bluemound Road, east to 84th Street, south to I-94 East
I-41 South to Watertown Plank Road west to WIS 100, south to I-94 East (not available in winter 2016/17).
