Wauwatosa Fall Leaf Pickup Extended

Wacky weather in Wauwatosa and surrounding areas has kept those leaves stuck on area trees - and the village is there to help!

WAUWATOSA, WI — Wacky weather in Wauwatosa and surrounding areas has kept those leaves stuck on area trees - and fall leaf pickup has been extended to help area residents.

According to city officials, the first day residents can rake leaves and garden waste to the curb was Saturday, Oct. 14. The last day of pick-up has been extended to Sunday, Nov. 26. That's the same date as the Green Bay Packer game against the Pittsburgh Steelers - that is, if you keep track of your fall and winter schedule by Packer games.

During the fall leaf pick-up period, the city will make three passes through all of Wauwatosa's neighborhoods. Officials are encouraging Wauwatosa residents to use the city's interactive map to view the projected times that cleanup crews will be in the area.

Leaf Pickup recommendations:

Rake only leaves and soft plant material to the curb. Branches and other woody material significantly slow down the composting process. Yard waste can still be brought into the city's drop-off center for a $5 per-load charge, or be picked up at the curb for a fee.

There are a few areas of the City that have street paving or road projects that are wrapping up. Do not rake leaves into the street until the last coat of asphalt is applied.
