Wauwatosa Hosts City Planning & Art

The City of Wauwatosa is home to several distinct business and neighborhood districts. Adopted by the Common Council, a number of city plans guide decisions on land use, natural & cultural resources, recreation, transportation, housing, economic development, place-making, and other city strategic goals.

The planning process for each plan is unique, but always involves multiple stakeholders and opportunities for public input. City staff in development and planning help guide this process. They engage stakeholders to create long- and short-term goals about the use of land in Wauwatosa.

In the spirit of reflection and city planning, artist Ginnie Cappaert loaned the City of Wauwatosa a series of paintings titled “Small Village…Happy Life.” She says these paintings reflect her interest in the importance of communities and small villages coming together in times of trouble and change.

“Planning is a skill that involves constant forecasting and reflection, with an aim to build stronger and more resilient communities,” says Paulette Enders, Director of Development. “We appreciate having Ginnie Cappaert’s series at City Hall to remind us about the art of community building.”
