WIAA Conference Realignment 'Final' for 'Tosa East, West

WAUWATOSA - After nearly two years of negotiations - at times heated - the WIAA approved a sweeping high school conference realignment set to take place in the 2017-18 school year.

Wauwatosa hoped to be placed in one conference, only to be placed in another. Read below to see how the realignment affects both 'Tosa East and West.

According to an article by the Journal Sentinel, Tuesday's vote was angst-ridden and passed by a 7-4 margin after an appeal hearing of nearly 90 minutes.

The vote may be final, however the WIAA board gave affected schools the chance to submit an alternative plan if the plan had support from all the other affected schools.

"So let's say the ones with Waukesha and West Allis and New Berlin and the Wauwatosas. In the groups that they're in, if those conferences can agree to change things and they all agree, they can bring it back," WIAA associate director Deb Hauser said according to the Journal Sentinel's report.

Wauwatosa East/West (Greater Metro/Woodland): Hoped to be placed together in the Woodland, but will play in the GMC instead.

• Brookfield Central
• Brookfield East
• Divine Savior Holy Angels
• Germantown
• Sussex Hamilton
• Milwaukee Marquette
• Menomonee Falls
• Wauwatosa East
• Wauwatosa West
• West Allis Hale
