Car Thief Eludes Whitefish Bay, Shorewood Police

WHITEFISH BAY -- Whitefish Bay police assisted Shorewood police in searching yards near the intersection of N. Prospect Ave. and E. Capitol Drive for several subjects who attempted to steal a vehicle on Aug. 21.

An officer observed a stolen silver Jeep which was involved in the attempted auto theft, and had just fled from UW-Milwaukee police.

An attempted traffic stop on the vehicle was made in the 1600 block of W. Hampton Rd, but the vehicle fled and was pursued until officers lost sight of it on N. 24th St. at W. Purdue St. The pursuit was subsequently terminated by officers.
