Couple Charged After Stealing Dominican Leader's Wallet

A Milwaukee couple is facing charges after they allegedly used stolen credit cards and a nursing home employee to purchase items they could resell in order to buy crack cocaine.

Caesar Hanson Jr., 39, and Amanda J McGettrick, 40, were both charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Monday with a combined six counts of unauthorized use of personal identification in order to obtain a thing of value. If convicted, McGettrick faces up to 24 years in prison and $40,000 in fines, and Hanson faces up to 12 years and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Sept. 22, a man McGettrick and Hanson know stole a wallet from an office at the Village at Manor Park Nursing Home in West Allis and then stole a wallet from Dominican Head of School Colleen Brady’s office the next day.

McGettrick and Hanson were able to get the stolen credit cards and then used them to purchase nearly $2,000 worth of gift cards from various businesses in Franklin, Oak Creek and the south side of Milwaukee. They then resold the cards in order to obtain money to buy crack cocaine.

McGettrick is currently being held in custody on a $3,500 signature bond. Hanson is being held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Update 6:40 p.m.: McGettrick is also facing charges of forgery and identity theft for , which contained cash and credit cards, on Oct. 5.
