Next Monday, Nancy Kelley wonβt work.
Sheβll be at her Whitefish Bay home, as she is on the third Monday of every month. Visitors will arrive with sloppy joes, salads, cookies and more food, which are then delivered to the St. Benedict the Moor meal program.
Nancy and her husband, Mike, are members of St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay. They have been heavily involved in the churchβs ministry at St. Benβs, as it is commonly known, for 17 years. Mike even serves on the Meal Ministry Council at St. Benβs, providing input to the Capuchin brothers who run the ministry.

βYou see a lot of the same people, month in and month out,β Mike said.
The Kelleys organize but they have help, not just in preparing food but in delivering and serving. Students who need community service hours often participate. The Kelleysβ three boys β all 21 and older now βΒ helped serve meals since they were as young as 4 years old.
βWe like in kind of a fantasyland, and we donβt see a lot of need (around us),β Nancy said. βIn this way, I think they gained a broader perspective of the community at large.β
