"Sleepovers" Documentary

Four girls coming of age share their vulnerability in a journey recorded during three sleepovers in 10 years. Molly, Isabelle, Suzanna and Mariah share their experiences with school, parents’ separation, boyfriends, alcoholism in the family and anorexia among the trials and triumphs of becoming adults.

“Sleepovers” intertwines images of 12-year-olds playing and talking and more self-conscious 18-year-olds and a third sleepover at age 21. The girls tell their stories with the benefit of hindsight, addressing their growth and how they and their relationships have changed. Some bear scars of sadness; others believe their close friendship with each other got them through the worst of their adolescence. Their stories share the struggles young women everywhere face and illustrate the importance of communication and solid relationships.

Following the documentary there will be a talk back session with director Laj Waghray. Pick up your FREE tickets at the Adult Services Desk.
