(Zoological Society of Milwaukee, June 2013)—The daughters of Bernie Ziegler, a longtime member of the Zoological Society of Milwaukee’s (ZSM’s) Board of Directors, celebrated the ZSM’s 30th anniversary Zoo Ball with their husbands. Bernie Ziegler, who regularly wore his black-and-white zebra pants to Zoo Ball, could not attend this year but lent the slacks to his son-in-law, Joe Humann, shown with his wife, Sara Ziegler Humann (left). Zoo Ball, held June 22 at the Milwaukee County Zoo, was sponsored by U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo and Wisconsin Energy Foundation. The Zoo World-themed gala featured a gourmet meal, made possible thanks to support from U.S. Bank, and live entertainment, sponsored by Johnson Controls. A late-night venue where the almost 830 guests could enjoy dessert, cocktails and dancing was sponsored by We Energies. Next to the Humanns, who live in Golden Valley, Minn., are Laura Ziegler Sommer and Grant Sommer, of Whitefish Bay. On the right are Brooke Ziegler Novaczyk and Nicholas Novaczyk, of Hubertus, Wis.
