Man Steals Purse From Woman In Car, Gets Arrested: Report

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Authorities in Whitefish Bay say they've arrested a 41-year-old Milwaukee man after he reached into a woman's car - while she was in it - to steal her purse.

According to Whitefish Bay police call logs, officers responded to the scene on the 500 block of E. Silver Spring Drive just before 1:30 p.m. on June 1 on a report of a robbery.

Police say that officers spoke with the woman, who gave officers a description of the suspect. Police said they found the suspect in a vehicle several blocks away. Police say the suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, ran when he saw police coming.

Police say they arrested Shawn Overton, 41, Milwaukee on the 4900 block of N. 19th Street a short time later. He's been charged with robbery-use of force, and resisting an officer according to court documents.
