Rep. Pasch Reacts to Potential SeniorCare Cuts
Whitefish Bay Democrat reacts to comments made during budget repair discussion.

State Rep. Sandy Pasch (D-Whitefish Bay), a member of the Assembly Committee on Health, offered the following remarks in response to hearing of a potential $20 million in cuts to SeniorCare:
“The fact that SeniorCare is allegedly being targeted by Governor Walker and my Republican colleagues in a yet-to-be disclosed budget repair bill is extremely troublesome. Not only does SeniorCare provide vital assistance to nearly 100,000 Wisconsin seniors by helping ensure them affordable access to prescription medication, but this innovative program saves taxpayers over $1,000 for each participant when compared to Medicare Part D.
“I stand ready to work with the Governor and my legislative colleagues in taking a thoughtful approach to creating jobs and reducing costs, while maintaining our investment in core services. However, gimmicks like targeting SeniorCare will only leave our seniors, who are struggling to keep up with rising prescription drug costs during these tough economic times, on the hook to balance the budget.”
