Ruhama's Selling Knit Hats for a Good Cause
'Love Story' film star has joined the Whitefish Bay knitting shop in selling sewing kits to recreate her classic knit hat.
Are you a fan of the 1970 blockbuster βLove Storyβ? Do you want to learn how to knit? Are you interested in supporting the Wildlife Emergency Response Fund?
If you answered βyesβ to any of those three seemingly unrelated questions, you may be in luck. owner Dawn Slugg has teamed up with "Love Story" star Ali MacGraw to sell knitting kits with everything needed to recreate MacGrawβs infamous knit hat from the movie. The proceeds will be donated to the Wildlife Emergency Response Fund.
Slugg and MacGraw met in England, where they spent six days together for an article in Vogue Knitting. When the two became friends, they decided to partner together to sell the "Ali Hat Kits,β and $5 from every kit goes to WERF.

With the goal of raising $5,000 for WERF, they have surpassed their goal, partly with the help of Sluggβs three-day appearance at βStitches West," a sewing and knitting conference held in February in Santa Clara, CA.
Although "Love Story" is more than 40 years old, Slugg said many knitters visited their booth to meet MacGraw and get their kit autographed by her.
