Stolen Car Found 5 Miles Away In Milwaukee: Report

Police in Whitefish Bay say a man left his car parked in the alley with the keys inside. It was later tracked down in Milwaukee.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Police in Whitefish Bay say a stolen vehicle was found to its owner on July 14 after it was found five miles away in Milwaukee.

According to Whitefish Bay police call logs, officers responded to a home on the 5200 block of N. Idlewild Ave. on a report of a stolen car.

A homeowner told police that his 2019 Subaru Forester was parked in the alley behind his house with the keys left inside the console. At some point between 9 p.m. on July 13 and 8 a.m. on July 14, someone entered the vehicle, started it and drove off.

According to police, the vehicle was later found parked in an alley behind a home on the 4300 block of N. 48th Street - about five miles away from where it was last parked. Police say the vehicle was towed back to the Whitefish Bay police station and returned to its rightful owner.

Police say they're continuing to investigate the case.
