Whitefish Bay Answers Voter Questions About April 6 Election

Voters can register at Village Hall, there are several ways to get absentee ballots and early voting takes place March 23 to April 2.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI —April 6 is Election Day, and residents of Whitefish Bay will be able to vote for candidates for state superintendent of public instruction, court of appeals judge, circuit court judges, Whitefish Bay village trustees and Whitefish Bay school board members.

The Village said it has received a number of questions about the voting process, and has attempted to answer many of those questions online.

According to the Village, voters can register at Village Hall during regular business hours until April 2. Registration also can be done on Election Day. Proof of residency is required. Voters must have resided at the address they provide for at least 28 consecutive days prior to the election in order to vote in Whitefish Bay.

Absentee ballots can be requested online, through email at elections@wfbvillage.org or by mail at Village of Whitefish Bay, 5300 N Marlborough Dr., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217.The absentee ballot application is available online.

Voters who have not previously submitted a copy of their photo ID to vote by mail will need to include a copy of their ID with their request for an absentee ballot. If voters are not sure if they have submitted a voter ID, they should include a copy to avoid any delay in processing. The deadline to request ballot by mail is 5 p.m. on April 1, though voters are advised to make the request as a soon as possible.

Absentee ballots can be returned via USPS or placed in the 24-hour drop box located between the front doors at Village Hall.

In-person "absentee" voting will take place on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30p.m. at Village Hall. No appointment is necessary, but voters must bring a photo ID. There is no absentee voting on the Monday prior to the election.

On Election Day, the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents should look use the ward map to determine where their polling place is located.

All Wisconsin voters must show an acceptable photo ID. TheState of Wisconsin website explains what constitutes an acceptable ID.

The Village of Whitefish Bay said it will do everything to keep poll workers, staff and the general public safe from exposure to COVID-19 while voting. The Village said safety precautions on Election Day will include: periodic cleaning of the polling places, socially-distanced voting booths and plexiglass shields to separate poll workers and voters. Poll workers will be provided with gloves and masks.
