Whitefish Bay Girls Fall Short in Sectionals

It was a strong run for the Whitefish Bay girls basketball team, but their season ended Thursday night.

The Lady Dukes (16-9) came up short against Pius XI (22-3) in a WIAA Division 2 sectional semifinal matchup at Waukesha North High School. Maya Jones led the Blue Dukes' scoring with 18 points. 

Pius XI will advance to play New Berlin Eisenhower (23-2) in a sectional finals game on Saturday afternoon.

Last year, the Blue Dukes made it to sectional finals, where they lost to an undefeated Eisenhower team. In 2011, the Blue Dukes beat Eisenhower in the sectional championship game but lost to Luxemburg-Casco in the state semi-finals.
