Whitefish Bay Police Catch Prowler: Report

Whitefish Bay police say the man was linked to numerous other recent prowling incidents in the village.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — The Whitefish Bay Police Department is encouraging residents in the village to call police if they see suspicious people on their home surveillance systems after one such system led to the arrest of a prowler in the area. According to Whitefish Bay police, a resident on Lakeview Ave. received an alert from his surveillance video on his cell phone, and told police he saw a prowler on his property via video. He called 911, and Officers checked the area.

Police say they found the prowler, later identified as a 57-year-old Milwaukee man, hiding in some bushes on Day Ave. The man was taken into custody without incident.

Whitefish Bay police say the man was linked to numerous other recent prowling incidents in the village, based on other videos submitted by residents. He's now being held in the Milwaukee County Jail, police said.

"These videos and quick notification of 911 are proving to be valuable tools in helping the Whitefish Bay Police Department deploy resources quickly and effectively to target the area where these criminals are actively trying to steal residents' property," the department said in a statement. "Thanks again to all residents who have shared video clips and made timely phone calls reporting these incidents which directly aided in the apprehension of this career criminal."
