• Civil rights lawsuit against Oneida County deputy settled for $1.25 million (tomahawkleader.com) — A Woodruff resident has received a $1.25 million settlement after alleging an Oneida County deputy used excessive force while he was handcuffed outside Rhinelander's Walmart in 2024. The case, which had been headed for a federal jury trial, ended with all criminal charges against him previously dismissed and the sheriff publicly defending the deputy's actions.
