Today's riddle: Why do fish live in salt water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. New affordable housing coming to Casper through Wyoming Housing Network project (oilcity.news) — A new Wyoming Housing Network project will bring 24 dome-style affordable rental homes to west Casper near the CY Avenue Walmart, with more phases possible. The Goodwill Landing development will double as a training ground for Casper College and Natrona County students learning modern construction, and include on-site case workers to support residents' stability. A $1 million Wells Fargo grant is jump-starting the first phase.
2. Public Notice No. 6412 (luskherald.com) — A state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission hearing is set for Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at the WOGCC office on King Boulevard in Casper, where regulators will consider Arena Resources' requests for a drilling-and-spacing unit and additional horizontal wells. Casper-area residents and other interested parties can attend or file written protests at least three business days before the hearing.
3. Natrona County Circuit Court initial appearances (8/19/26) (oilcity.news) — Natrona County Circuit Court in Casper handled several initial appearances Wednesday, with Judge Kevin Taheri setting bonds and short jail terms in a mix of probation revocation, theft, and driving-related cases. The report explains how bonds and pleas work locally and lists only basic outcomes, reminding readers that most defendants remain presumed innocent at this stage.
4. Finally, Casper's Dead Turbines Are Coming Down (k2radio.com) — Drivers passing Casper will soon notice 11 long-idle wind turbines near Evansville being dismantled, with Chevron removing blades and towers through 2026 under Wyoming's reclamation rules. Much of each turbine's foundation will stay buried, while steel and copper are recycled and fiberglass blades head to approved burial sites, following earlier controversy over using Casper's landfills.
5. A Field Guide To Wyoming's Best Waterfalls (y95country.com) — Among Wyoming's standout waterfalls, the guide highlights an easily reached cascade coming off Casper Mountain, giving locals a nearby option before ranging farther afield. It also points readers to maps, curated lists, and scenic drives so they can plan trips to Shell Falls, Yellowstone, and other top spots without much advance preparation.
