Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Defunct For Years, 'Eyesore' Casper Wind Farm Turbines Finally Coming Down (cowboystatedaily.com) — The long-idle Casper Wind Farm north of town is finally being dismantled, with turbine removal underway and work expected to continue through at least the end of 2026. Natrona County commissioners say residents near Stonewood Street and Sunburst Drive should expect heavy truck traffic, cranes, demolition noise, and controlled blasting as Chevron follows a county-approved decommissioning and reclamation plan.
2. Casper officially OK's downtown hotel project (oilcity.news) — Casper City Council has unanimously approved a $26.5 million C.H. Bixby Hotel project, bringing the first new downtown hotel in over 60 years to the Old Yellowstone District. The 118-room Hilton Tapestry boutique hotel will redevelop a long-vacant industrial site, add restaurants, a rooftop lounge, and about 100 year-round jobs. Construction is slated to start this fall, with opening targeted for 2028.
3. Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Collaboratives Launch Fall Meetings (wyo.gov) — Casper residents can directly weigh in on outdoor recreation priorities when the Natrona Converse Outdoor Recreation Collaborative meets Sept. 8 at the Platte River Trails Pumphouse on West 1st Street. The statewide initiative is hosting 12 fall meetings, all open to the public in person or via Google Meet. Locals are encouraged to share ideas during the public comment period near each meeting's end.
4. Former Mills treasurer disputes mayor's statements on job performance after settling civil contract case (oilcity.news) — A contract dispute involving the former treasurer for nearby Mills, reported from Casper, has ended with the city agreeing to pay her $150,000. She and her attorney strongly contest Mayor Leah Juarez's claims that her performance cost the city money, pointing instead to preexisting financial problems and her history of promotions and recognition during her tenure.
5. Natrona County Circuit Court initial appearances (8/20/26) (oilcity.news) — Natrona County Circuit Court in Casper has released a snapshot of Thursday's initial appearances, including felony burglary and conspiracy charges for a 17-year-old and several probation and traffic-related cases. The report explains how bonds, pleas, and probation revocations work locally, while reminding readers that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty or entering a guilty plea.
