4. Prospect (Ryan) Hill (nps.gov) β From Casper, you can follow detailed backroad directions to Prospect (Ryan) Hill, where emigrants once described a tough climb rewarded by sweeping views of the Sweetwater country. Today, visitors can still see those vistas, walk along marked Oregon, California, and Pony Express trail ruts, and explore a BLM interpretive turnout despite weathered exhibit panels.

5. State launches central firefighting bases (wyomingnews.com) β Casper is now home to Wyoming's new centralized firefighting helibase at Natrona County International Airport, housing helicopters and air tankers to speed wildfire response statewide. State leaders say pairing these aircraft with ground crews, including Douglas's Pronghorn Module, should keep more fires small while strengthening support for rural departments across Wyoming.
