2 Arrested in Connection With West Adams Shooting That Left 3 Dead, 12 Injured: LAPD

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting at a West Adams restaurant that left three dead and injured 12 others, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police identified the two suspects arrested Sunday as Mowayne McKay, 33 and Diego Reid, 25, both of whom are Jamaican nationals. McKay and Reid will be booked for murder, police said. On Saturday, The Los Angeles Times reported that two "persons of interest" are in custody and police continue to look for other suspects. A gun was reportedly recovered at the scene.

The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. at a private residence that was being used as a makeshift restaurant in the 2900 block of Rimpau Street, police said. A total of 15 people were shot, three of them fatally. An LAPD sergeant described the area to The LA Times as, "a bloody scene with shell casings everywhere."

Police said a dispute broke out between a man and at least two other males when, one of whom shot the man. After the shooting, several shots were fired "indiscriminately" into the crowd, and some appeared to be return fire from other party-goers pointed in the direction of the suspects. The man who initially fired a gun and an associate fled the scene on foot, police said.

Three victims, including the man who was initially involved in the dispute with the two other men, were pronounced deceased. Among those injured in the shooting, one man is in critical condition while most of the other victims have been released.

Authorities have not yet identified the victims.
