Both Oakland PD and the CHP advised residents of the movement of the protest on Twitter throughout the night.

Some Oakland residents and other commentators from around the country admonished Oakland PD to shut down the protests. One tweeted, "do something about it opd. What did any of these hardworking commuters do to deserve this bs on their way home," while another person used the hashtag #Stopdestroyingourcity.
