A Birding Paradise in Greenwich
Amateur photographer Joe DeMarte had quite the photo session at Audubon Greenwich.

Audubon Greenwich ... a place to visit that never disappoints and where unique bird sightings provide special memories.
This Redtailed hawk dove down less than 50 feet from where I was standing and came up with it’s lunch; a vole (small mouse-like rodent). Using my new Sony A77 - Mark 2 DSLR (digital camera) coupled with my Tamron 150-600mm telephoto lens, I fired off well over 50 photos of the hawk and got this one as it moved to higher ground to feast on its freshly-caught meal.

Ted Gilman, senior naturalist and education specialist at Audubon Greenwich, enjoys “all things hawk” as he treats hundreds of visitors each fall to join him and his team of naturalists for fall hawk-watch at Audubon Greenwich ... where hundreds of hawks of many types and sizes pass through as some of them migrate south for the winter. The National Audubon Society announced earlier this year that Ted Gilman was the 2013 recipient of the Tamar Chotzen Audubon Educator of the Year award. Congrats Ted !!!
Happy birding!
