Flying Like an Eagle in Greenwich

Resident snaps photos of bald eagle in Greenwich Harbor.

Amateur photographer Joe DeMarte enjoys boating and fishing along the Greenwich waterfront.

In fact, he’s been doing it for five decades. So last weekend when he and is wife were cruising Greenwich Harbor, taking in the sights and snapping photos, DeMarte spotted an immature bald eagle gliding in the wind. The eagle apparently had set its sights on a target — lunch.

DeMarte, who uses the moniker “Boatographer,” said the eagle with a five-foot wingspan, “swoop(ed) down near our boat as it was chasing an osprey that had caught a fish (to try to make the osprey drop it) while we were cruising inside Greenwich Harbor.”

DeMarte said, “I’ve spend the past 5 decades boating, fishing and spending as much time as possible along the gorgeous Greenwich waterfront and love to share my photos with friends, family and anyone else that might enjoy them.”
