Car Thieves Strike Again in Greenwich

An SUV left unlocked in a resident's driveway was stolen … the second time this week a vehicle has been swiped in town.

Car thieves have struck again, stealing another SUV that the owners left unlocked in their driveway with the keys inside, according to Greenwich Police.

Sometime between 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, a 2014 gray Buick Enclave was stolen from a driveway Peters Road, according to police. Peters Road is a dead-end residential street in Old Greenwich.

Tuesday’s theft is the 11th since November, and the second reported this week. An East Elm Street resident came home about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29 and left the keys inside the console of their unlocked 2012 white Range Rover. At 7:45 p.m., the resident reported the vehicle had been stolen.

Police have said thieves are targeting a variety of vehicles, however, most have been high-end SUVs — including three Range Rovers.
