Greenwich Driver Faces DWI Charge After Hitting Stamford Police Officer
Police caught the driver, who's accused of driving the wrong way on a one-way street, after a chase that ended in Greenwich.

A Greenwich man with a reported history of driving drunk the wrong way on a one-way street, is facing similar charges following an incident in Stamford on Thursday during which a Stamford Police officer was hit by the suspect’s pickup truck.
The 61-year-old suspect was arrested after leading police on a chase that ended when he exited I-95 at Exit 5 in Riverside, according to a report in The Advocate.
Richard J. Scully of Sheephill Road, Greenwich, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, engaging police in pursuit, driving under the influence, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and striking an officer with a motor vehicle, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond, according to the judicial records.

He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 14, according to judicial records.
Police said an officer working an extra job at the intersection of South State and Canal streets reported that a pickup truck coming at him the wrong way at about 9:45 p.m. Friday. The officer was struck as he walked around the front of the truck to talk to the driver. Scully reportedly then took off onto I-95, with police in pursuit until he exited the highway in Riverside.
