Greenwich Police Advise Drivers 'To Stay Off the Road'

While schools are closed, Greenwich Town Hall has a delayed opening.

Greenwich Police are urging all residents to stay off the road during the storm.

“This will allow DPW to do their job of clearing the roadway in a safe and efficient manner,” police said in a statement Monday morning.

“The Greenwich Public schools are closed and the Greenwich First Selectman (Peter Tesei) has deemed it necessary to delay the opening of Town Hall today until 11 a.m.,” police said.

“If it is necessary to drive, give yourself extra time to get to your destination and drive with caution. Driving speeds should be substantially reduced to avoid accidents.”

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is reporting towns can expect moderate to heavy snow for the next 2 to 3 hours. Mixed precipitation along the coast may change to freezing rain. The snowfall / sleet intensity is expected to lessen around 10:00 AM but not end.

The mixed precipitation changing back to light snow between 1:00 - 4:00 PM. Temperatures will begin to drop this afternoon back into the teens by early this evening. Total snowfall is expected to range from 3” - 6” along the coast.
