Sit Through Several Traffic Light Cycles at 4 A.M. = A Drunk Driving Charge
Greenwich Police were in traffic behind the driver who was charged with driving under the influence.

Sitting through several traffic light cycles shortly before 4 o’clock in the morning is sure to attract the attention of Greenwich Police — especially if they happen to behind you at the traffic light.
That’s apparently what happened early Sunday to one Greenwich motorist stopped at the intersection of East Elm and Mason streets in central Greenwich, according to a police report.
Police said they saw a motorist stopped at a green light on East Elm. “The vehicle was observed to be in its stopped position for an extended period of time and for several traffic light cycles,” according to the report.

The officers observed the driver as having bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages. According to the police report, the driver, identified as Jose P. Lopez, 33, of 147 Davis Ave., failed field sobriety tests.
Lopez was charged with traveling too slow and driving under the influence. Lopez was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear April 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
