Electric Boat to Hire 1,500 Workers in 2016
The Groton-based submarine builder made the announcement Monday.
General Dynamics Electric Boat will hire 1,500 workers at its Groton-based plant in 2016, according to company President Jeffrey S. Geiger.
The Hartford Business Journal reports that the hiring will result in about 840 new jobs in design, engineering, support and trade due to attrition.
Geiger made the announcement Monday during the company’s annual legislative breakfast, and the company also plans to add another 300 workers at its plant in Quonset Point, R.I.

In separate but related news, New London Mayor Michael Passero, who attended the breakfast, passed out and was taken out of the meeting on a stretcher. He appeared to be conscious and speaking as he was wheeled away.
