The event will be back for 2016, New Morning's John Pittari says. New Morning's Earth Day event is still on.

New Morning’s Earth Day is a separate event and is still taking place this year.

The following information is from a Friday, Feb. 13, email from John Pittari of New Morning Market. He is a member of the Woodbury Earth Day Committee.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your interest in Woodbury’s annual Earth Day celebration. Initiated by New Morning Market more than 20 years ago, this event has grown into a community-wide celebration held in partnership with the Town of Woodbury. Drawing an estimated 5,000 visitors who enjoy the 130+ vendors that provide demonstrations, music, food, entertainment, artisan market, and environmental education, Woodbury Earth Day has grown to be the largest Earth Day celebration in Connecticut!

With the rapid and continued growth of this event in the past few years, we have faced increasing logistical challenges in making this celebration the best experience possible for all involved. Last year’s event was ranked highly by many of you, but we also received helpful feedback on specific event improvements. In effort to fully address your feedback and bring you the best Woodbury Earth Day event, extended planning for our next celebration is paramount. As such, 2015 will be a transitional gap year for Woodbury Earth Day so that we can bring you an outstanding experience in 2016.

For Woodbury Earth Day 2016, we will continue to:

  • Seek the participation of vendors and exhibitors who share in the vision of preserving a sound environment and supporting a sustainable lifestyle.
  • Welcome food concession vendors, for-profit organizations, non-profit organizations, and sponsors to the event.
  • Encourage vendors to sell their goods and services, though it is not required.
  • Require all food vendors to obtain the necessary health permits and be responsible for passing on-site health inspections.
  • Require that all vendors and exhibitors provide a Certificate of Insurance naming the event hosts as “additional insured.”
  • Welcome all applications and will not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, politics, or lifestyle.

We know that you will be as excited as we are about Woodbury Earth Day 2016. We look forward to announcing plans for 2016 later this year. We hope that you will be able to join us!

Sincerely,

John Pittari

Woodbury Earth Day Committee
