The suspect is accused of snatching gold chains from the necks of the victim and her 18-month-old son.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Sandy Springs detectives continue to work any leads that may trickle in to help them solve the case of an armed robbery of a mother and her 18-month-old son.
Police spokesperson Capt. Mike Lindstrom said the agency's investigators are reaching out to neighboring jurisdictions to determine if there are any similarities in last week's incident to others in the area, "but there are no new developments at this time."
The woman and her child were uninjured in the terrifying incident. Police were called just after midnight Monday, Oct. 10 to the Highland Circle apartments at 201 Northwood Drive.

That's when the suspect walked up behind her and said, "Shut up, shut up! Give me your chain," an incident report released by Sandy Springs police says.
The suspect, who was pointing a small black handgun at the victim, forced the woman to the ground and pulled a gold chain from her neck as well as one from the little boy's neck.
Along with the chains, the suspect also stole the woman's purse and was last seen walking northbound towards Building A inside the complex.
The suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old, about 6'1'' tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball-style hat, a black jacket with a collar and black jeans. No specifics about the handgun was given, so police were unable to determine if it was a semi-automatic or revolver.
Inside the purse taken from the victim was an Apple iPhone 5, about $120 in cash, a debit card, a Shell gift card, medical insurance information, Social Security and Georgia identification cards and house and vehicle keys.
