A multi-drug-resistant fungus that is emerging globally has been identified in six states, including Maryland. Centers for Disease Control officials said none of the 50=plus reported cases were related, but four of the individuals — two in Illinois, one in New Jersey and another Maryland — were cared for in the same facilities at different times.
