Wind Gusts Of 60 MPH Possible In Baltimore, Harford

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect and so is a flash flood warning: BREAKING.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Harford and Baltimore counties until 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Weather officials say that 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail are possible in the warning area.

Radar showed a severe thunderstorm over the Bowleys Quarters and Middle River areas at approximately 4:15 p.m., according to weather officials, who said the storm appeared to be moving northeast at 15 mph.

The severe thunderstorm warning applies to Middle River, Essex, Bowleys Quarters, Riverside, Perryman, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Abingdon, Martin State Airport, Magnolia, Chase and Belcamp.

Trees may fall from damaging winds, causing power outages and road blocks. Weather experts advise staying inside away from wind and lightning. Drivers should avoid wooded areas and passing underneath trees until the warning period is over. People inside should move to an interior room on the lowest floor away from trees.

There is also a flash flood warning in effect for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties.
