23K In Baltimore County Have Power Restored After Storm: BGE

Many were still without power early Saturday morning in parts of Baltimore County.

BALTIMORE, MD - More than 1,000 people were without power in Baltimore County early Saturday from Thursday's severe thunderstorms.

Trees were uprooted, power lines fell and utility poles toppled over during Thursday night's strong winds, according to BGE. Police said a 14-year-old girl died in the Timonium area after a tree fell on her in the backseat of a car.

At 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, BGE said that nearly 1,900 people were still without power in Baltimore County. The outages were concentrated in the Lutherville-Timonium area. There were also approximately 300 BGE customers in Owings Mills reporting outages.

Since Thursday's storm, BGE reported that it has restored power to 23,941 customers in Baltimore County.

Several thousand restorations occurred Friday; at 11:20 a.m. on Friday, there were 6,300 people without power in Baltimore County.

Almost 35,000 BGE customers statewide who lost power have had it restored, the electric company announced Friday morning, stating most service will be restored by the end of the day.

"However, additional severe weather is anticipated today which may impact restoration efforts and cause additional damage," BGE said in a statement Friday morning. "Restoration times may be slightly longer for small pockets of customers in locations where extensive damage was sustained."
