Coronavirus In Maryland: State Reports Nearly 500K Test Results

More than 2,800 people have died in Maryland from the coronavirus, and almost 500,000 tests have been administered, officials say.

MARYLAND — Nearly 500,000 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Maryland, state health officials reported Sunday.

A total of 61,701 people have tested positive for the coronavirus overall, according to the Maryland Department of Health. In the last day, the state has reported the results of more than 8,400 new coronavirus tests, with nearly 400 new cases of the virus confirmed.

The positivity rate for the virus has dropped to 6.72 percent in Maryland, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

The number of coronavirus patients in Maryland hospitals — 751 — is the lowest in 10 weeks, Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement Sunday.
