Power Restored in Newton After Outages Surpassed 7,000
Eversource reported thousands were without power early Monday afternoon.

NEWTON, MA - Eversource Energy reported that power has been restored in the city following a rash of outages on Monday.
At one point 7,239 of its customers were without power, but that number has since dropped to around 2,000, the company reported. Eversource serves 39,949 in the city.
Anyone still experiencing outages should call Eversource at 1-800-592-2000.
On Monday emergency crews also reportedly responded to a manhole explosion at Boylston and Ellis streets.

Meanwhile a power issue caused "minor delays" on the D branch of the Green Line. The MBTA said the issue was also related to Eversource.
The MBTA replaced its Green Line service from Riverside to Newton Highlands with shuttle buses while the problem was resolved.
