WATCH: Eversource Power Path Through Sudbury

A local videographer recently took two drone videos that follow the path of the proposed Eversource transmission lines.

SUDBURY, MA — Considering an effort by Eversource to bring transmission lines through Sudbury, a local videographer wanted to show a unique view of several miles of forest that would be cut to bring the electricity to Hudson.

Sudbury's Board of Selectmen is fighting the proposal to bring the lines through town and there is a website for those who support preventing the Eversource proposal here.

Making two drone videos to show the areas that would be affected, today Patch features his drone footage of Southeast Sudbury. Last week, Patch showcased the drone footage of Memorial Forest.

"The Eversource electric company plans to cut down a several mile long swath of woods that follows the old abandoned railroad tracks that cut through Sudbury and Hudson," he writes. "These wooded tracks cut through many residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and Memorial forest which is one of the last large unabated woodland areas left in Massachusetts. These tracks cut through or are adjacent to numerous protected woodland and wetland habitats, currently providing scenic nature trails for hikers to enjoy. In this video I fly around, adjacent to, and above the old wooded abandoned tracks that Eversouce is planning to clear cut for the installment of very tall and ugly power lines."

The videographer, who lives in Carlisle, travels around New England to find new and interesting drone footage. He takes the footage as a personal hobby with the goal of uploading awe-inspiring videos.
