Sudbury Saying 'No' to New Power Lines
'The community impact caused by this project is significant. The impact on our environment is unacceptable.'

SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury is collectively shouting "no" to a proposed Eversource transmission line through the town.
The Sudbury Board of Selectmen, the Sudbury town manager, the Historic Districts Commission and the Conservation Commission in the past week have all publicly voiced opposition to the proposal.
Selectmen have taken a strong stand against this overhead line, and announced that they will seek intervention in the siting board review process.

In a letter addressed to the governor and sent to several agencies across the state, the board urged our legislators to join the residents of Sudbury in opposing the project, said an announcement.
“This project creates an unfair burden to our community,” the board wrote. “It would decimate our environment, destroy our land and cause irreparable harm to our community. We have a duty to protect our town.”

Town Manager Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues, Esq. wrote, “The community impact caused by this project is significant. The impact on our environment is unacceptable. The burden on Sudbury is unacceptable, the plan is unacceptable and I urge Eversource, our legislators and the State to stand with Sudbury to demand better for our town.”
