Woman Admits She Stabbed New Jersey Child Case Worker 21 Times

Taisha Edwards faces 13 years in New Jersey State Prison for stabbing a female case worker multiple times in November.

A 31-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing a New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency employee at an office building in the city last year, authorities said.

Taisha Edwards pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal attempted murder, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced Monday evening.

Edwards admitted that she stabbed a female case worker 21 times with a knife in a hallway outside the DCPP offices shortly after 1 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2014. Edwards was a client.

Several of the victim’s co-workers witnessed the attack. They were able to subdue Edwards until Camden County Police arrived.

The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment. She was in court on Monday with a number of family members and friends for Edwards’ plea.

Edwards faces 13 years in state prison. She would be required to serve at least 85 percent of her prison sentence before she is eligible for parole, as well as five years of supervised release.

She would not be allowed to have contact with the victim or the victim’s family, friends and acquaintances.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 10.
