SANDY HOOK GATEWAY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA — The dead body of an elderly man was found on Sandy Hook Monday, a park official confirmed to Patch.

The older man's body was found in the area of Beach B at Sandy Hook. He was found unresponsive on the beach, and did not appear to have been in the water or swimming.

Park rangers at the scene tried CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, park spokeswoman Daphne Yun said. She said she did not know who first found the body.
