Body Washes Ashore At Sandy Hook: Officials (UPDATED)
Authorities are investigating the incident.
A body washed ashore at Sandy Hook on Friday, according to a park spokeswoman. The gender of the person also was identified.
The body of an adult male washed up on Beach D, Daphne Yun, a spokesperson for the Gateway National Recreation Area, told Patch.
The body washed up on the oceanside of the park sometime around 1 p.m., according to Yun.

The Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner's Office has taken custody of the body and will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, Yun said.
