Man's Body Recovered From Rockaway River In Boonton
Authorities don't suspect anything criminal took place.
BOONTON, NJ — A body was found Monday morning at the Rockaway River in Boonton. Authorities identified him as a 71-year-old man but did not disclose any other information about him.

Law enforcement went to the river at about 9:50 a.m. Monday for a report of a body. Officials recovered the body from the ice.

The Medical Examiner's Office is completing the investigation. Authorities don't suspect anything criminal at this time, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

The area has been the site of several drownings in the past few years. A body was found in the part of the river that passes through Montville in July 2018.

Several agencies are conducting a joint investigation into Monday's incident, including the prosecutor's office, Morris County Sherriff's Office and the Boonton Police and Fire Departments.
