Teens Who Stole Booze From Indonesian Consulate Arrested in the Bronx, Try to Bribe Cops

The teens were caught Tuesday returning to a hotel where they had burglarized a room two nights before, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two teens wanted in connection with a burglary at the Indonesian Consulate on the Upper East Side were arrested Tuesday night in the Bronx.

David Rivera, 18, and a 16-year-old girl, were arrested trying to enter a Marriott Residence Inn in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx, police told Patch. Hotel security recognized the two as suspects in a robbery at the hotel two nights before where they allegedly stole a pocketbook, a Coach wallet and assorted credit cards.

The two were also suspects in an early Monday morning burglary at the Indonesian Consulate on East 68th Street near Fifth Avenue. The two entered a side door of the building, stole a case of vodka, a Samsung tablet, a suitcase full of clothing and a 2004 Honda Odyssey, which they used as a getaway vehicle, police said.

When apprehended by officers Tuesday, Rivera attempted to bribe them with money, alcohol and the stolen minivan, police told Patch.

Both teens are now facing multiple charges including burglary, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and more. Rivera will also be charged with bribery.
